summer bridal shower

Wedding season is upon us, friends. And with that, comes party after party. While nothing will top the actual wedding, a bridal shower will be one of the most special events throughout a couple’s entire wedding journey. If done correctly, of course. So whether you’re a maid of honor or family friend of the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs., I’m sharing some tips to how to host the perfect summer bridal shower!

No. 1 - What to Wear to a Summer Bridal Shower

When it comes to attire and bridal shower etiquette, the only hard and fast rule is to never wear white. Unless you’re the bride. Typically, the bride will be the only one in white during all of the wedding events and festivities – not just the wedding. Bridal showers tend to be a very light and airy occasion, especially during the summer. So stick to pastels, feminine florals, and classic silhouettes. You can’t go wrong with a classic fit & flare dress with a little bit of an ode to a 1950s tea party like the dress I’m wearing here. Just pair it with espadrilles like the ones I’m wearing here and classic pearl studs like these here.

No. 2 - Create a Personalized Menu

Be sure to create a menu with all of your guest of honor’s favorite things. Does the bride-to-be have a sweet tooth? Serve mini cupcakes, chocolate dipped cake bites, or mini bundt cakes. And add a DIY touch with a lemonade, mimosa or sangria bar. Tailoring a celebration to the bride’s favorite drinks and treats will make her special day even more special. You can also add themed paper decor like these straws to incorporate more fun and festive touches to the occasion. Finding ways to host the perfect summer bridal shower starts with keeping the couple in mind.

No. 3 - Add Thoughtful Touches in Unexpected Places

Does the bride love fresh hydrangeas and peonies? Or how about cute bunnies? Adding special touches here and there that you know the bride will love and appreciate will make this event a day for her to remember. Dig deep (or maybe just stalk her Pinterest boards) and think about what you can do to make this bridal shower feel more personal for the bride.  Does she seem to pin a specific quote or color a million times over? Great! Have the quote written on a chalkboard or center the theme of the party around her favorite color.
