It’s my favorite time of year, friends! It’s almost Halloween! And you know what that means… it’s time to get dressed up!

I’ve never been one to take much of a “traditional” approach to choosing my Halloween costume… Of course there was the occasional kitty kat and, sometimes, witch. But for the most part, I dressed up as women I admired. For instance, one year I was Amelia Earhart (the first female pilot) and another year I was Abigail Adams (the second First Lady of the United States). I think you can begin to see a pattern here.

Since I was little, I’ve always loved to dress up as influential or iconic women and characters for Halloween! And this year, I wanted to share three easy DIY Halloween costumes for my fellow fashion-loving gals out there that want to dress up as icons, too! *Bonus, you may even have some of these items in your closet already!

mary poppins halloween costume diy

With ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ coming to theaters soon, I couldn’t help but be inspired! I have always loved Mary Poppins, but I got even more excited when I found out they would be doing a remake… And with Emily Blunt, nonetheless! Anyways, this one was especially fun for me… Because this is actually my very own Halloween costume this year and my fiance will be going as Bert! A white ruffle shirt, navy skirt, derby hat, a few accessories, and, of course, her infamous umbrella was all I needed to create my modern, Mary Poppins costume.
