5 ways to get your home ready for spring

1. NEW Linens

One of the very first things on my spring cleaning checklist is to change over my linens! Last month, I found these white linen sheets from Target and I had to have them! Sleeping on fresh, white linen sheets feels amazing, but looks even better. There’s nothing like new bedding to make a room feel bright and crisp. So swap out your bedding with a lighter material to welcome spring and warmer temperatures. If new sheets aren’t on your list, you might even consider a couple new throw pillows to add to your bed or sofa, a spring-worthy table runner, or even new hand towels. Fresh, new linens can make all the difference to your home this season. And you truly don’t have to spend a lot of money to do it!

2. Fresh Blooms

Flowers? For Spring? Groundbreaking! I love adding in seasonal blooms to my home – bunches of tulips on the bedside,  hydrangea bundles at the entryway, etc. Fresh blooms will instantly brighten up your space and make it feel like spring or summer. There’s also just something so uplifting about seeing fresh florals around the house! But, if you’re like me and you want to enjoy the look of flowers for as long as humanly possible, there are plenty of artificial floral and greenery options that will do the trick as well! Pro tip: mix real and artificial flowers together for extra impact. And if you want to freshen up your florals outside as well, check out my Gardening Guide for Beginners.

3. Bright & CHeerful Accents

One of my favorite ways to create a happy home for spring is by using color! It’s no secret that I love classic neutrals. But when it comes time for spring, adding bright and cheerful accents is quintessential. Introducing new hues and spring-themed decor is a sure-fire way to give your space a fresh new look this season. I do this by swapping a few of my throw pillows and blankets to shades pastels and floral patterns. And by incorporating bright white vases, mixed with sweet, spring accents.

4. Spring Time Scents

Candles are key to creating a cozy and inviting home. And just like the perfume I wear, I love giving my home a seasonal scent, too. Overtime, I’ve collected an assortment of spring, summer, fall and winter scented candles to interchange from season-to-season to make my home feel extra cozy. As I watch the nature around me start to bloom, filling my home with a subtle floral or citrus fragrance instantly brings me to another, happier place. Plus, this is a fairly inexpensive way to really get your home ready for spring and refresh your space. This candle here is always a go-to during the warmer months!

5. Spring Cleaning

Last, but certainly not least, cleaning and organizing your home is essential to getting your home ready for spring. Now is the perfect time to deep clean, declutter, and organize. Room-by-room, go through all closets, drawers, shelves, etc. Start reorganizing, washing, cleaning, and removing any clutter. Throw out what’s old and donate anything you can. Invest in organizers like these and storage bins to keep things as tidy as possible. And don’t forget to clean, clean, clean! There are tons of “Spring Cleaning Checklists” available to help guide you and get you started. But don’t feel like you have to take it on alone! Split the list between you and your husband, kids, or roommate, crank up some tunes and conquer spring cleaning together! Afterwards, you will have a fresh, tidy house, and you’ll be ready for all things spring and summer.
